We are actively committed to training the next generation in our industry. Apprenticeships are available in the following positions at Aluminium Laufen AG:
Cast Technologist EFZ

Cast Technologists make cast parts from metal alloys.They plan, oversee and optimise production, carry out casting tests and ensure the quality. They know the production processes and plan, oversee and optimise production based on that knowledge.


Apprenticeship: starts in August 2025

Duration of training: 4 years

Place of work in Liesberg (BL), vocational school in Winterthur (ZH), inter-company course in Uzwil (SG)

Trainer: Chris Meyer
Cast Moulder EFZ
Cast moulders produce cast parts from metal alloys. They program and service the production machines. The range of tasks covers the casthouse's whole production line and begins with the forming of the alloy, finishing with the end of the completed cast piece.

Polytechnician EFZ
Production is the main responsibility of a polytechnician. They manufacture workpieces and tools that are required for production. You will learn the fundamentals on conventional machines as well as on modern CNC machines with CAM programs.

Trainer: Udo Schwyzer
Electrician EFZ
Electricians work independently, sometimes alone, sometimes in a team. They use a variety of techniques of working with their hands, from rougher jobs such as laying pipes, to finer jobs such as putting in cables for telecommunications. They prepare and check electrical diagrams and schemes. When working with electricity, they work responsibly and keep to safety regulations.

Trainer: Christian Jeger
Design Engineer EFZ (from 2026)
Design engineers use CAD programs with 3D construction techniques to put together design drawings on the computer.  They make the required calculations and note geometric shapes, masses and tolerances on the plans as well as surface quality and materials. Design engineers create documents on the production, putting together, operating and servicing of devices, machines and systems.

Business person EFZ (from 2026)
We train our business people in every department of the business. The learners move between the departments every three to six months. They develop their skills in accounting, sales, head office, HR, and conveyance. The essential duties of the business people include processing information with Office programs as well as through our ERP system. They communicate by telephone, email and post in German and in other languages
