Why are we committed to sustainability?

We are responsible to society and our descendants – and we take this responsibility seriously. It is important to us to do our part to reduce the ecological impact of the production and processing of aluminium products. Because only an intact environment is a stable basis for successful business and sustainable development. We also want to offer our successors secure jobs in the region. Our role models are our predecessors: they have managed to lead Aluminium Laufen AG Liesberg in a progressive and visionary manner since 1927, even in challenging times.

We also want to fulfil our social and societal responsibility. We are actively involved in vocational training to train qualified young people in the region. We promote the personal and professional development of our employees and provide training in seven different professions.

Aluminium as a partner for a climate-neutral society

Aluminium can be used for simple and highly complex shapes. It is lightweight, conductive, durable, does not rust, is thermally conductive, fireproof and UV-resistant. It is also hygienic, magnetically neutral, impact-resistant and can be recycled countless times.

The contribution to CO₂ reduction:

The use of aluminium components in the constructions sector helps to significantly reduce the energy consumption of buildings.
The use of the light metal aluminium leads to a massive reduction in CO₂ emissions in the transport sector (road, rail and air).
The use of aluminium gives electric vehicles a greater battery range.
In packaging, aluminium ensures a long shelf life and protection against moisture and microorganisms (food, medicines) thanks to its barrier function.

Whether as a packaging material, as a material in electrical and mechanical engineering, in aviation or in many other applications: Aluminium is the key to greater efficiency.

Aluminium, a sustainable material

The origin of aluminium and recycling are important. The Swiss Aluminium Association lists further options for achieving climate neutrality:

Reduction of direct CO₂ emissions in the production of primary aluminium and further processing using carbon-free electrical energy
Utilisation of technological innovations
Increasing resource and energy efficiency
Further expansion of recycling and the circular economy so that Europe makes greater use of this important source of raw materials
