Closing cycles, saving CO2

Reusing aluminium products can save up to 95 per cent of the energy required for manufacturing. That is one of the reasons why we are expanding our range of recycled alloys.

One of the most important levers is the choice of materials. The right mix of low-emission materials, their durability and the use of renewable energies for their production are crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Aluminium plays an important role in façade construction, window solutions and interior design. Aluminium components have proven themselves thanks to their minimal maintenance requirements and long service life, among other things. Thanks to their corrosion resistance, aluminium building façades often last longer than 50 years.

Hochparterre, a publishing house specialising in architecture, planning and design, has written an article (in German) about it.

We offer alloys with a high percentage of process and recycled scrap or made from primary aluminium with a reduced carbon footprint. We currently offer our customers three low-carbon alloys:

  • EN AW-6060 Green Low GL: Alloy made from particularly CO2-reduced and recycled aluminium with a minimum of 85 % post-consumer scrap and a CO2-footprint of a maximum of 1.23 kg CO2 equivalent per kg of aluminium.
  • EN AW-6060 Low Carbon LC: Alloys made from primary aluminium with a reduced carbon footprint of 3.8 kg CO2 equivalent per kg of aluminium.
  • EN AW-6060 Green: Alloys with a guaranteed recycled material percentage of minimum 70%.

Please contact us, we will be glad to advise you on selecting the best alloy for your project.
