On the spotlight: 5 personal questions to Gaby Schumacher

Our committed employees are the real success factor. As part of the "5 personal questions for..." series, we will introduce you to our colleagues in random order.

Today: Gaby Schumacher, Operational Purchaser
Her motto: "Live and let live".

Gaby, let's start "philosophically": What question has been on your mind recently?
How much and why people are making life difficult for each other and why they are not making any progress together. Why this envy, this selfishness and this unreasonableness among people ...

What was the best advice you ever received?
Almost four years ago, a loved one gave me the advice: "Don't hesitate - do it". This advice, in combination with listening to my inner voice and a large dose of sport, has led me to a stronger, truer me 😊.

So you spend a lot of time doing sport?
Yes, it's a very important part of my free time. I'm out on my racing bike or bike every day. Mostly in the surrounding area, but also on longer tours when time allows. For example, I conquered the third-highest Alpine pass in Switzerland, the Great St Bernard, on my racing bike with my husband. The pass is 2,473 metres high and has a maximum gradient of 11% - we were happy to have mastered it.

And I also like reading. I recently read the book "Basic course in mushroom identification". I really enjoyed the book. I was able to learn a lot from it and apply it to "mushroom picking", another hobby of mine. In this practical book, over 400 different mushrooms are systematically presented so that you are able to identify them yourself.

If you could meet a famous person for dinner: Who would it be and why?
Hmm, there are certain sportswomen who really inspire me with their achievements. For example, the long-distance runner Anita Weyermann, who motivates me with her legendary phrase "gring abe u seckle" (head down and run!) on the bike, or Jolanda Neff, a power woman on the bike. I think that I could have a very interesting dinner with one of these top athletes.

How "digital" are you and what is your favourite app?
One thing is for sure, you won't find me on the typical social media platforms.
However, I am very interested in economic, future-orientated digital developments such as blockchain technology. My favourite app is Fitbit - because I'm very sporty and interested in my activity level.
