With profile: Rain gutters for historic steam railways
Aluminium profiles and rods can be formed extremely economically and in a
variety of ways using the extrusion process. And they are not only used
in buildings or machines, but also in historic railway vehicles.
Specifically: steam railways.
The
Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke (DFB AG) operates a concessionary railway line in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The almost 18-kilometre-long line runs between Realp in the canton of Uri and Oberwald in the canton of Valais. It winds its way through wild canyons and along steep mountain slopes up to an altitude of over 2000 metres. Over 100-year-old locomotives and carriages are used, which have been carefully restored and made roadworthy again by volunteers.
Excursion tip: The steam train runs from 19 June 2025 to 28 September 2025, from Thursday to Sunday.
