Today: René , IT employee
His motto: If everyone takes care of themselves, everyone is taken care of.
René, what job did you do to earn your first money? As a schoolboy, I delivered newspapers to supplement my pocket money. I wanted to buy a bike and saved up for it. I did this school job for a few years and was able to fulfil a few wishes.
What do you do in your spare time?
Riding a motorbike, I have a Yamaha Vmax. This model has always been a childhood dream. In 2005 I had the opportunity to take receipt of a Yamaha Vmax and of course I couldn't pass up the chance. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to go motorbike touring at the moment. Then I often go camping on Lake Biel, where we have a permanent caravan site. It's the ideal place for me to relax. And I always enjoy discovering new, exciting places that were previously unknown to me.
You brought a photo of yourself on a carnival float. Tell me why:
Until 2015, I was an active carnival member in the Muttenz clique "Gülle-Waggis 1988". We took part in many parades in the Basel region. From the beginning of October, I was involved in the chariot construction every Saturday. I also used to play in a "Guggenmusik" for a few years.
There's a lot going on in Kleinlützel, where I live, at carnival time. People come from all over to celebrate here on Friday - after Fat Thursday. There are easily six or seven different carnival pubs and bars, in addition to the two existing restaurants. It's really impressive what people have achieved and built up. The great thing is that everyone helps in an uncomplicated way, you just have to ask. We have a carnival parade on Sunday. As a carnival fan, I still wear a carnival costume as a spectator.
What has particularly impressed you recently? The carnival. I am always impressed by how people change for a few days and then return to their "normal" lives after the carnival as if nothing had happened.
How "digital" are you on the road and what is your favourite app?
I do my banking and postal business online, as they are available. But with the necessary caution, of course. My favourite app is WhatsApp. My friends and family use this app, so this channel is the most important way for me to stay in touch with everyone.
