Topics include market developments, the regulatory framework in Switzerland and the challenges facing the industry in the coming years. And, of course, the topic of sustainability was also addressed. Patrick Villiger comments:
"Sustainability is also an important topic for us. Products made from aluminium have the great advantage that they can be recycled endlessly without any loss of quality. That's why we start at the very beginning of the production process by continuously increasing the recycling rate and thus resource efficiency, thereby preserving non-renewable resources for future generations. Keyword "circular economy"."
Another issue, which also includes recycling, is energy requirements. Patrick Villiger says once again:
"In order to reduce electricity consumption and also CO₂ emissions, we have already implemented various measures and initiated others. For example, we have been participating in the Energy Agency for Industry (ENAW) programme for many years. The goal: less CO₂ and more energy and resource efficiency, which we have always achieved. And for some time now, we have been offering new alloys that are produced with a significantly reduced CO₂ footprint or have a recycled content of at least 70 per cent."
