Echo der Zeit: Swiss export industry under pressure

Weakening consumption due to high inflation and the recent rise in interest rates are currently having a severe impact on the European economy. The metal industry in Switzerland is also affected by this. Companies here are faced with falling order volumes from the EU region.
Added to this is the high price of electricity. For companies that require a lot of energy, the price of electricity is an important competitive factor. Many EU countries support their companies, for example with an electricity price cap. This is a significant competitive disadvantage for the Swiss export industry, says Patrick Villiger.
