As part of the expansion of the unmanned intra-logistics system, we needed an additional hundred steel transport racks to transport the extruded products through the various process steps.
We used this opportunity to develop weight-optimised containers and have them manufactured. The design optimisation achieved a stiffer base frame and a weight saving of over 25 % per rack. For each heat treatment process, the ageing furnace thus has to heat up 1.3 tonnes less steel from room temperature to 180°C. Accordingly, we need less energy and emit less CO2.
With the addition of the existing unmanned intra-logistics system, we can now automatically supply six to ten processing centres. The intra-logistics system has also been supplemented with a fourth automatic crane of the latest generation and a block storage system including floor conveyor technology.
