Today: Ulrich Munz, Sales Foundery
His motto: If you knock on the hollow often enough, you force a sound out of the emptiness.
That needs an explanation. For me, the "hollow" is a synonym with which we all initially came into this world free of any prejudices. The "knocking" stands for a constant and ongoing curiosity to experience life, to find in the "noise" a resonance to one's own existence, in social integration.
How do you like to spend your free time?Definitely with my family: chatting together, philosophising, fooling around, having fun, simply enjoying the free time and life. Then I like hiking, observing and consciously experiencing nature.
What has been your most incredible experience so far?Meeting my wife! I am now 67 years old and already a great-grandfather, so my biological mission has been fulfilled. . .
What are you still proud of today?Being accepted within the family as a "silverback" without any dominance and that my professional skills are still in demand. Although I have been officially retired for two years, I am still active in our industry with heart and soul, authenticity and joy.
Finally, a look into the crystal ball: Where will our industry develop? The Corona crisis holds opportunities for us: In the consolidation of the foundry industry, several more foundries will disappear from the market and the pieces will be redistributed. I am convinced that Aluminium Laufen will participate positively here because we can supply both complex cast components in small to medium series and price-sensitive semi-finished cast products.
Castings will continue to be produced in Europe in the future: Aspects such as availability of local skills and risk management of procurement, among others, also promote the second-source strategy. I am absolutely certain that in terms of competence and performance, we will be and remain present in the market in the long term and sustainably.
