Today: Joao Leite, Sales Extrusions
His motto: A smile always helps
What do you do in your spare time?I spend a lot of time with my two children. And if I find the time, I restore and drive old cars. Cars have always fascinated me as a child, so it was only logical that I became a car mechanic. Above all, I was fascinated by the simplicity, the "originality" of the vehicles. Cars that you could repair with mechanical knowledge and without computer support. I personally restored two VW Beetles, one of which I drive myself. As a young man, I spent a lot of time in the garage.
Before I was married, I used to go to a classic car gathering at national and international level almost every other weekend. Sometimes they were rather small, family meetings with 30 to 40 vehicles, sometimes they were huge events with over 1,000 classic cars on show. Today I don't have so that much time, but my little son accompanies me with enthusiasm.
What have been your best holidays so far?My most beautiful holiday so up to now was in the Maldives in 2011. The Maldives are exactly like the holiday paradise you see in the catalogue. Beautiful landscape, wonderful sea, sandy beach and palm trees.
But it was also a very special holiday. We were there with five people: my brother-in-law and his newly-wed wife, their 11-month-old child and my fiancée and me. It was their honeymoon. On arrival, reception thought we were the wedding couple and so they gave us the honeymoon suite with champagne, cake, etc. The mistake was then resolved after we had eaten the delicacies. The hotel then kindly provided the whole thing for the newlyweds as well. The dinner in the sea, the fantastic excursions, the wonderful sunsets .... were also fantastic.
... that forces me to ask the question: How was your honeymoon? This was also very beautiful and impressive, we travelled to Florida. Our honeymoon was also a great trip, but very different from the Maldives.
How did you earn your first money? When I was a child, I lived in Portugal. When I was six or seven, I accompanied our next-door neighbour who sold potatoes at the weekend market in Lisbon. I carried the potatoes home to the customers who lived in the quarter and I received a coin for that. That was a great thing for me. I always made sure that we were at the market as early as possible.
How "digital" are you on the way?I use my mobile phone very often and with pleasure, of course also due to my job. But I'm not on social media platforms, I don't have time for that or it's too much of a waste of time for me. I read online news, use some e-shops and listen to music. My favourite app is clearly YouTube for music, but also for reports about car events and others.
