On the spotlight: 5 personal questions for Hichem Rafrafi

The 250 employees of Aluminium Laufen AG make the difference. Get to know some of them - we will introduce you to several colleagues in loose order.

Today: Hichem Rafrafi, Key Account Manager Casting Germany
His motto: "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" - a well-known song by Lenny Kravitz

Do you often listen the music of Lenny Kravitz, do you like this artist especially?
I actually only know this song by him. But I like music in general very much and I like to listen to songs of old bands and singers like Kansas, the Beatles, Elvis, Frank Sinatra but also Charles Aznavour and Joe Dassin.

What was your dream job as a child?
I always wanted to be an inventor and engineer because I was a big fan of Gyro Gearloose, a genius inventor and graduate engineer from Duckburg. Through my studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg, I actually succeeded pretty well. And today, as a key account manager, I can support my customers in product development and offer technical solutions when problems arise.

What do you do in your free time?
In winter, I like to travel to tropical countries such as Mexico or the Dominican Republic to escape the cold weather. When the temperatures are pleasant, I love to go hiking or cycling. I also like to barbecue with the family, go jogging in the evening or go to the cinema. It's been a while since my last visit to the cinema, but the film "The Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith is still very much on my mind and I enjoyed it immensely. The script is based on the life story of Chris Gardner, an American entrepreneur. The film is about a single father who does everything he can to give himself and his young son Christopher a life of dignity and to open up better prospects for his son's future. The message of the film: diligence and ambition, perseverance and positivity even under difficult circumstances, initiative and action and always pursuing a goal pay off at some point. This attitude coincides with my motto in life and I actually follow it myself.

How "digital" are you on the road?
Very much. Both for professional and private reasons. I don't have a favourite app, but I find Xing and LinkedIn very interesting, for example, because you can meet inspiring people from the industry. I also use Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and many more.

A look into the crystal ball: Where will our industry develop?
So far, the aluminium industry has been an efficient sector that provides important impulses for the national economy. The Corona pandemic is hitting the entire industry hard, but unfortunately we don't know how long this will last. We at Aluminium Laufen AG can only overcome the current economic crisis by joining forces, which we are all doing with commitment, so that the company will come through this crisis as unscathed as possible, which has been quite successful so far.

Hichem Rafrafi has been working as Key Account Manager Casting Germany since 01.01.2019. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree and has several years of professional experience in various positions in the aluminium processing industry. With this background, he advises his customers comprehensively on various technical issues.
