On the spotlight: 5 personal questions for Urs Steiner

Our employees have a high level of expertise and commitment. Get to know some of them - we will introduce you to several colleagues in random order.

Today: Urs Steiner, Sales Profile Switzerland
His motto: Embarrass yourself every day!
This means not to be afraid of making mistakes and to have the courage to go your own and new ways.

What is your professional background?
I completed an apprenticeship as a foundry technologist and was then a specialist worker - until I decided to take an escape route. By escape forward, I mean the path of further education.
After my further training abroad, I held various positions in the foundry industry. Among other things, I was production manager, head of technology and development and plant manager. I also spent 2.5 years in Romania, where I was responsible for setting up a foundry. After that, I made a clear decision to go into technical sales. Here I can combine my experience - technology, metallurgy and sales - which I really enjoy.

Do you have time for hobbies?
Yes, I take time for that, because I have several hobbies. Among other things, I am active in the fire brigade. I appreciate the collegiality and the fact that I can make a contribution to the community.
Then I play ice hockey regularly. The game is fast, physically demanding and mentally challenging. In addition, it's the optimal exercise balance for the winter months. I used to play in the 4th and 3rd leagues, now I play in a fun team, Hobby Reinach. We meet every 2 weeks for training or a game against another Hobby team.

Where did you spend your best holidays so far?
In Jamaica. After a round trip through an enormously diverse country, we spent a few days on the beach. The perfect mix. Jamaica offers a diverse landscape: from tropical forests, white sandy beaches, mountains and agricultural areas to the mining areas of alumina for aluminium production.

How "digital" are you on the road?
I use the digital possibilities intensively. At work, of course, especially at the home office and on the road. But also for news, for research, social media, etc.. Today, I also like to do reservations and bookings etc. online. The 24/7 service is relevant for me because, for example, I can do my financial transactions comfortably and efficiently from home even on Sunday nights. Digitalisation is here to stay. And nevertheless, there are digital-free moments that I enjoy.

What are your favourite apps?
There are many useful apps that I use. For example, financial apps, travel apps, meteo, communication etc. Currently, N2F is my favourite. It's an account app for expenses. It can handle travel expenses, receipts, all types of VAT and cost centres, even mileage reports via a route planner.
