Today: Burkhard Schmücker, Sales Profile Germany
His personal motto: Smile and the world changes - because it makes everyday life easier.
Have you been in the aluminium business for long?I have been working in the extrusion industry since 1992 in various management positions, including quality management, sales, purchasing and field service. And I still enjoy my job very much - especially thanks to the lively exchange with my customers and colleagues.
What do you do in your free time?
I love outdoor activity combined with some "action" such as cycling, canoeing, riding a motorbike, sailing and especially kitebuggy riding. Kitebuggy is a three- or four-wheeled vehicle pulled by a kite that can reach speeds over 100 km/h.
Kite Buggy - and how did you get into it?
I was enthusiastic about building stunt kites in the past and in the early 90s a New Zealander had the idea of being driven by a stunt kite in a "buggy". I was immediately fascinated by the combination. I just tried it myself, and at some point, I got the hang of it.
When and where did you spend your most memorable holidays?
2007 with my own sailboat as skipper on a 3-week trip from North Holland to England with my family. I will never forget the challenges of a night trip on the North Sea. In sailing, it is the mixture of wind and waves, seamanship and navigation that makes the sport so exciting for me. Especially at night, they are experiences you never forget - especially on the English Channel.
How "digital" are you in daily life and what is your favourite app?
Actually, I'm always online, which also comes with my job. WhatsApp is my favourite, so I'm always well connected with my family and friends when I'm on the road.
