Together with the Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie (GDA) and GSB International, we have drawn up Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for aluminium profiles.

The EPDs are based on the ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards.

 

We now offer EPDs for the following aluminium profiles for download:

• anodised aluminium profiles
• coated aluminium profile

• mill finished aluminium profile

This environmental product declaration is based on 1 kg of aluminium profile each.

 

Data basis for the ecological building assessment

Architects and building planners used EPDs in the preliminary studies or project planning phase to determine the environmental impact on the life cycle of the entire building project. This applies to all construction-related products, including aluminium profiles for windows, facades, doors, solar systems and many more.

 

Well-founded basis of the EPDs

The EPDs were prepared on the basis of data from four member companies of GDA and GSB International. The production facilities of all participating companies are located in the DACH area and use the same production technology. The data recording refers to one year in the period 2016 or 2017.

 

EPDs as prerequisite for building certification

• EPDs are based on scientifically substantiated, quantitative data from life cycle assessments, life cycle inventories or information modules and show all relevant environmental impacts of a construction product in a transparent and independent manner.
• EPDs have been verified by independent third parties. The data are checked for completeness, plausibility and conformity with standards.
• EPDs are based on international standards.
• EPDs are an important building block on the way to the certification of a building, as offered, for example, by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
