A positive CO2 balance is becoming increasingly important in the manufacture of industrial goods. This is why sustainable materials and processing are gaining in importance.
Alloys with a high proportion of process and recycled scrap or made from primary aluminium with a reduced CO
2 footprint are a further contribution to sustainability. We currently offer our customers three ‘green’ alloys:
EN AW-6060 GreenLow GL: Alloy made from particularly CO2-reduced and recycled aluminium with a minimum of 85 % post-consumer scrap and a CO2-footprint of a maximum of 1.23 kg CO2 equivalent per kg of aluminium.
EN AW-6060 Low Carbon LC: Alloys made from primary aluminium with a reduced carbon footprint of 3.8 kg CO2 equivalent per kg of aluminium.
EN AW-6060 Green: Alloys with a guaranteed recycled material percentage of minimum 70%.
Aluminium offers many convincing basic properties that help to reduce CO2 emissions in the product life cycle of many components. Thanks to its corrosion resistance and minimal maintenance requirements, aluminium is often used in building façades, for example, for more than 50 years. Thanks to its light weight, UV resistance and excellent formability, to name just a few properties, aluminium helps many industries to reduce their CO2 emissions.
